Formerly the Bristol Collegiate Baseball Club, the Mystic Schooners are a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization and member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).
The NECBL consists of twelve teams located throughout New England with rosters filled with top players from colleges all over the United States.The league offers elite level amateur baseball in a part of the country where baseball has historically been an especially favorite summer pastime.
Team owners Tom and Michelle Marra, are Mystic residents and baseball supporters who see Mystic as the perfect environment for the growing team. “Southeastern Connecticut and Mystic, in particular, are known for having enthusiastic
baseball fans,” Marra said. “Our goal is to see the team grow and prosper, to provide great, affordable family entertainment.”
General Manager Dennis Long, a Niantic native who played three summers for Hyannis in the elite Cape Cod Baseball League followed by a minor league career with the NY Mets and the Texas Rangers organizations, returns to the helm. “The Schooners are excited about another great summer of baseball in Mystic,” said Long. “I hope people take in a game see what we’re all about.”
The coaching staff is led by Manager Phil Orbe, head coach at Montville High School, General Manager Dennis Long also serves as the Schooners Pitching Coach.
