When visiting Stonington or Mystic you’ll find yourself surrounded by several great seafood places, but what if you are wanting something a little different like a steak? Even though many of the town’s restaurants feature delicious seafood options, we’ve narrowed it down to our favorite places to grab a hearty steak. Keep in mind that a lot of these places also serve great seafood selections. This is great if you are dining with someone who still wants seafood. 

Steak Loft is Mystic’s best steakhouse and top seafood restaurant are one and the same. Since 1973, Steak Loft has featured premium program beef, fresh seafood, a scrumptious salad bar, wine, cocktails, entertainment and excitement.

Located in Olde Mistick Village you can’t miss it when exiting off I95, exit 90. If you’re looking for a good steak in Mystic, go here. One half of the restaurant features upscale dining with a terrific salad bar. The other half is a huge lofted tavern with laid-back atmosphere, regular live music schedule, and its own menu.

The Captain Daniel Packer Inne, known as DPI, to the locals, is just outside of Downtown Mystic. DPI was built on the Mystic River over 250 years ago. Square-rigger Captain Daniel Packer completed construction of the building bordering Water Street in 1756.Enjoy selections from fresh, quality ingredients with imagination and care. Red 36– Bright cocktails, big lounge chairs, and multiple bars make this experience a Newport Getaway with yachts docked up and sunsets overlooking the Mystic River. An extensive raw bar and outdoor setting quickly changes with the seasons with roaring fireplaces and cozy indoor seating.  The fresh seafood, the waterfront views, the echo of ringing of church bells, the distant buzz of the drawbridge, all bring a new look to “staycation” with no streets in sight or clocks with closing times.

The Oyster Club in Mystic writes its menu daily and showcases food that travels the shortest distance from ‘farm & sea to table,’ with seasonality and location determining the day’s delicacies. Benefiting from the region’s many local farmers and fisherman, Oyster Club features bounty from the sea, pasture raised beef, local produce and artisanal cheeses. They believe Oyster Club is an extension of your home – They welcome you to their table! You must try this place!

The Tree House is an out door bar and restaurant tucked away in the back of the restaurant and is a great spot to east outside or for happy hour

Engine Room is also one of the best bars in Mystic. It features 16 craft beers on tap and the areas’ largest bourbon selection. Engine Room also goes beyond the beers and bourbon as they have a menu that will keep you on your toes. Their menu is uniquely revised daily with locally sourced seafood, farm fresh vegetables and the widest burger selection.  If you still weren’t convinced then let’s talk about the ambiance of the rustic marine engine building has the biggest bar, high top and corner booths. Wanting to catch a game? Lucky for you there is a big screen. Also, on Saturday Nights they have local musicians and DJs playing live music.
